General Surgeon
Dr. Terah Isaacson
A former Republic County native will bring her years of experience and training to Republic County Hospital. With her arrival on February 7, General Surgeon Terah Isaacson will join the staff of RCH and collaborate with Drs. Beavers, Klecan, and Chapman to provide exceptional surgical access to the community.
Dr. Terah Isaacson, a double board-certified surgeon in General and Colon & Rectal Surgery, completed her Summer Rural Elective following her first year of medical school at Republic County Hospital, alongside Dr. Wheeler in 2003. This allowed her to see firsthand the joys of rural medicine, which continued throughout her training and now career. This opportunity, and many along the way, confirmed the value of high-quality healthcare institutions in the rural setting.
During medical school, she was one of the first medical students to complete the Rural Track option, completing much of her 3rd and 4th clinical years in Salina. After graduation from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, she completed her general surgery residency in Portland, OR at Oregon Health & Science University. Dr. Isaacson again chose a rural track option for her 4th year of residency, a highly sought after year spent in the southern Oregon town of Grants Pass performing a wide array of procedures.
Following residency, she matched into a Colon & Rectal Fellowship in Houston, TX where she currently resides with her husband and two daughters, Vivienne & Natalia.
In her practice, she utilizes a minimally invasive technique to perform many procedures including gallbladder and appendix removal, abdominal surgery for diseases, such as colon and rectal cancer, diverticular disease, and inflammatory bowel disease. She also provides many treatment options for anorectal and pelvic floor disorders, including hemorrhoids, anal fissures, fecal incontinence, and fistulas. She treats a range of general surgery conditions as well including hernias, lipomas, and breast diseases. In addition, Dr. Isaacson is proficient in both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and strives to provide well-informed care, making sure each patient understands the best options and alternatives to provide them with a unique plan of care fit especially for their needs.
To complement her vast expertise, she is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons. She is an advocate for physicians through her role as Vice-Chair on the Medical Board of Legislation and District Chair for TEXPAC. She sits on the executive board for her medical group and is the Credentialing Chair. She volunteers as a board member for Healthcare for Homeless in Houston and as a helper with the kindergarten readers. She was recently chosen to complete a yearlong Clinical Leadership program through the Center for Human Capital Innovation and will be doing this alongside her work at Republic County Hospital.
Dr. Isaacson looks forward to collaborating with Drs. Beavers, Klecan, and Chapman to enhance quality surgical care at Republic County Hospital. No concern is too small or too big.
Most of the operations performed at RCH are on an outpatient basis, meaning the patients are not admitted to the hospital and are typically able to return home after the surgery.
"RCH is excited to be expanding the surgical team by adding Dr. Terah Issacson. Her passion for her profession and this region was evident as we worked on making this happen. She could have gone anywhere but she chose us. We are excited for her arrival, her vast experience & expertise, and outstanding capabilities," stated Dan Kelly, RCH CEO.
"Her addition advances our mission to continually offer the best health services you can find anywhere. Our family caring for your family."
