Rehabilitation
The Rehabilitation Department at Republic County Hospital consists of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy services.
The Rehabilitation department is active in caring for patients of all ages including acute, skilled, and intermediate care hospital patients, nursing home patients, and outpatients.
Our therapists provide consultations, evaluations, and a variety of treatment services for both inpatients and outpatients.
An exciting new feature in the Rehab department is our AlterG Treadmill. It's an anti-gravity treadmill. This type of treadmill contains NASA patented technology that allows you to reduce your body weight by as much as 80%. It uses air pressure to help unweight the patient. This allows the lower body to be enclosed and supported by the air pressure.
There has been overwhelmingly positive feedback from the individuals that have incorporated it into their physical therapy treatment.
Patients with arthritis, poor walking tolerance, knee injuries, ankle/foot injuries, and Parkinson's Disease can benefit from this new equipment with great results each time.
Another new service being offered is Dry Needling.
Dry needling is a safe and effective technique for musculoskeletal problems. A thin needle is inserted into underlying muscular trigger points for management of pain and movement impairments. When dry needling is applied, it can decrease banding or tightness, increase blood flow, and reduce local and referred pain.
The goal of using Dry Needling therapy goal is to reduce pain and restore function.
